Always alert

Imagine if your wing mirrors could alert you when there’s something in your blind spot. Or if your SUV could guide you perfectly into a parking spot. We made all this happen and more, with our Vision Assist technology. Available as standard in Forester 2.5i-S, Forester 2.0XT Premium and Forester 2.0D-S.

Blind Spot Monitor: If a vehicle is in your blind spot, a light symbol in your side mirror lights up - on either side of the car - to let you know.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert: If you’re reversing and a vehicle is approaching from the side, you will receive an audible and visual warning. Perfect for Saturday morning shopping.

Lane Change Assist: If you’re changing lanes and a fast approaching vehicle is behind you, a light symbol will warn you of its presence.

Adaptive Driving Beams: If you’re approaching oncoming traffic at night, auto high beams will sense the road ahead and automatically switch to low beam.

Side View Monitor: While you’re reverse parking, side view monitor indicates the distance from the kerb or a parked vehicle. Perfect for guiding you into that parallel parking spot.

Let all the wheels do all the work

Maintain grip on slippery rainy streets, no problem. In true Subaru style, the Forester uses our Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD) system that gives you optimum control and more traction capacity compared to a two-wheel drive car. Because four wheels grip better than two. It’s active safety at its best.

Plus, SAWD makes Forester even more responsive as you dart through city streets or take on the open highway. With all the wheels powering forward, the Subaru Forester offers more safety than a rear-wheel or a front-wheel drive can.

Switch the car into X-Mode for even more control when you’re driving in low speed, slippery conditions - available in LineartronicTM CVT models only.

Ready for anything

Sudden stopping. Surprise roadworks and hairpin turns. Forester is ready for extreme conditions with its electronic driver assist system called Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC). Featuring a range of stability and braking technologies, the VDC system steps in to help maintain your safety in extreme situations.

Constantly analysing through an array of sensors, VDC includes:

  • Electronic Stability Control: Helps you gain control if you unexpectedly understeer or oversteer, by applying brakes, reducing engine power and distributing torque.
  • Traction Control System: Helps you minimise your wheel slip by reducing engine power.
  • Limited Slip Device: Helps you maintain control by transferring power from the wheels that slip to the wheels that grip.
  • Anti-lock Braking System: Helps you stay in control by minimising stopping distance and maintaining vehicle control under brakes.
  • Electronic Brake Force Distribution: Helps keep you safe by controlling the braking pressure to the front and rear wheels all the time.
  • Brake Assist: Helps you in emergency situations by maximising stopping power.

We're looking out for you

EyeSight® Driver Assist is like your second pair of eyes, spotting potentially dangerous situations up ahead. It alerts you to take action, and can apply the brakes automatically if you don’t.

Our award-winning technology works by capturing 3D images through cameras on the front windscreen. It now also comes with new Brake Light Recognition and Lane Keep Assist technology, making every drive even safer than before. EyeSight® Driver Assist features as standard in Forester 2.5i-S, Forester 2.0XT Premium and Forester 2.0D-S CVT.

Reverse easy

Steering back into a tight side street? Family driveway littered with toys? Rear visibility is even more important when you’re reversing at the wheel of an SUV.

That’s why the Subaru Forester comes with a rear view reverse camera as standard across the range. It's like having eyes in the back of your head – showing you when there’s a child, dog or any kind of rear obstacle in your way. This helps to greatly improve your visibility and reduces the risk of any bumps and scrapes as you go about your day.

Boxing clever

The famous Subaru Boxer engine is not only a great performer; it also reduces the risk of injury in a severe frontal collision. This is because it’s designed to sit lower and flatter in the engine bay than traditional engines, so it will slide below the cabin – not through it – in an accident.

5 star ANCAP rating

Thanks to its clever combination of collision protection technology, the Subaru Forester has achieved the maximum 5 star ANCAP safety rating. This is a result of an incredibly rigorous safety innovation program, which includes seven SRS airbags - dual front, dual front side, curtain-style and drivers-knee and a whiplash-reducing design, which provides extreme support for passengers head, neck and torso.

In case of an accident, the ring-shaped passenger cell redirects impact energy around your passengers, while the body frame is structured to distribute the impact to reduce cabin distortion. Add to that energy absorbing crumple zones. And pre-tensioner front seat belts. Now enjoy the drive with the confidence of top-rated collision protection technology.
